The Ministry of Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, in collaboration with EdoJobs and GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation), has trained and empowered rural students in solar panel installation techniques at the Edo State Polytechnic in Usen and Sobodida-Ora.

The Hon. Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, Hon. Ogbede Ifaluyi-isibor, during his opening remarks at the graduation/empowerment ceremony, said that the Edo State government is committed to the welfare and growth of our youth in rural areas and will continue to look out for them.

Hon. Ifaluyi-Isibor added that after a very successful and rigorous training a few weeks ago, beneficiaries were presented with solar panel installation starter packs and kits that will help them create jobs for themselves and be able to provide for their needs.

As a ministry, we believe that government must be centered on the people and that their overall wellbeing must be the primary concern of society.

The Rector of the Edo State Polytechnic Usen appreciated the state government for her commitment to bettering the lives of the youth and promised to collaborate more with the Ministry of Digital Economy, Science and Technology to support the provision of digital skills to Edo people.

The Head of Socials of Owan West Local Government, Mr. Humphrey Izedonm, expressed joy while appreciating the Edo State government for this great empowerment program. He added that several transactions had been carried out in that local government, but none were as rich and productive as this.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Emmanuel appreciated the Edo State Government and thanked the Honourable Commissioner for the knowledge and skills the youths have been equipped with, as well as the startup kits and tools given to them to enable them to become effective and efficient at this vocation they have learned, which will ultimately make them very productive members of society.

The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of starter packs and kits to all the beneficiaries. Also present on this occasion were Hon. Tunde Akele, Uhomora Ward 2, and Hon. Uwadia Anthony, Sabo-Ogida Ward 4.
